Week One PPR Sleepers

With the first Sunday of the 2010 NFL season only hours away, it's natural to second guess your starters in deeper leagues. More then any week of the season, week one is awash with fresh hope but also tons of question marks. The answer to whether or not the lack of training camp would affect Brett Favre's game one performance was answered last night as the rust could be seen dripping off his right arm without the benefit of high definition or even decent eye sight, but that's in the past now--let's talk about Sunday! I'll be picking through the depth charts and finding a couple solid PPR options. For those who don't already know, PPR stands for "Points Per Reception"---in some PPR leagues receptions can be worth one point or less, but for these purposes let's just say one point. Here are my week one "Heads Up!" players(These "sleepers" are currently owned in LESS then 50% of Yahoo leagues):

Chris Chambers WR KC: Though I'm not a fan of the Chiefs myself, I must admit they do play the rival Chargers very tough. In deeper PPR leagues or leagues with flex spots he could end up being pretty useful.

Heads Up! Projections: 4 catches 44 yards and a score(good for 14 points in standard one point PPR setups)

Nate Burleson, WR DET: I think the Lions have made some significant improvements over the last two years and the main one is at quarterback. I forsee MANY defenses keying on main target Megatron, which could leave Nate the Great in an enviable position. Add to the fact there should still be plenty of garbage time in Detroit for him to pad his stats and I think he could be a good start more often then not--or at least when the matchup is right.

Heads Up! Projections: 5 catches 72 yards and a score(18 fantasy points)

Best of luck to all my fellow fantasy managers!! Whether you're starting the football season or finishing off the baseball season always remember to go with your gut!!
