Show Sports Writers Pick'em Challenge

In this new column the writer's here at the blog are going to pick two sleepers per week that are owned in less than 50% of yahoo leagues. Using a scoring system based on actual fantasy points we will each receive a score of 0-5(5 being perfect) for each player...high score takes it. I will post the scoring key below. If you want to get in on the challenge post your sleepers in the comments section and match up again me(Wes/Show), Ryan(Fuzzyman), and DeadHeadBill. Let the games begin. Each author will write a short summary to why they think these sleepers will hit in this week's pick'em challenge.

Show's Picks Week 1

Deon Butler, WR Seahawks - Owned in barely 1% of yahoo leagues Deon Butler is my 20,000 leagues under the sea deep sleep pick this week. Not a great matchup with the Niners this week, but I am going with him anyway.

Mike Thomas, WR Jags - Owned in approximately 6% of yahoo leagues I go deep again with this athletic wide out. Thomas is a deep threat facing a team minus it's best pass rusher. I actually like his skill set better than Mike Sims-Walker so just sit back and watch Mike run.

Fuzzyman's (Ryan) Picks Week 1
Fred Taylor RB, Pats, owned in 13% of yahoo leagues.
Even the Patriots have to run the ball sometimes. Fred is showing more and more this preseason that there are a few miles left on his old body. Look for the Evil cheater to take advantage of Fred's fresh legs before the wear and tear of the NFL season slows him down.
Ryan projects Fred to have 79 yds rushing, 1 td and 23 yds receiving.

Darren Mcfadden, RB, Raiders, owned in 48% of yahoo leagues. M.Bush was suppose to be counted on as Oakland's number one option until a broken thumb has sidelined him late in the preseason. The Raiders coaching staff will turn to Mcfadden week one to compliment the newly aquired QB Jason Campbell. Mcfadden's no Chris Johnson, but he makes a nice play this week. Expect 89 yds on the ground, a td, and 42 yds receiving.

DeadheadBill's Sleeper Specials - Week 1
Legadu Naanee, WR, Chargers, owned in 10% of yahoo leagues.
With size and plenty of speed Naanee could be a sneaky sleeper play week 1. Vjack is all but out of the picture now and I believe Malcom Floyd will assume the role of possession WR, while Naanee emerges as the deep threat. It's yet to be seen what effect the signing of Patrick Crayton will have on the chargers offense, Pat could conceivably be the onion in Legadu's ointment.

Laurent Robison, WR, Rams, owned in 17% of yahoo leagues.
We all know Show is the real Rams fan in our circle but I do like what I have seen out of Sam Bradford thus far. He's got a cannon for an arm and a high football IQ - the question is does he have the weapons to be this years Flacco or Ryan. Enter Laurent Robinson (or more accurately exit Donnie Avery), given the No.1 WR position, L.Rob could be Sam's go to guy by default. I dont expect the Rams to make a playoff run, but in fantasy, garbage time is just as important as crunch time, and Sam could be throwing alot in the former.

***Well said fellaz, check back first part of next week to see who has the magic and who flat isn't getting it done. Let's hear your sleepers...post them in the comments section below, put your money where your mouth is! Check out the key below. Show
